the last week of September. How did you all get going with Gone With The Wind? You
can check the Update Posts page to see how others have progressed.
Meanwhile, I want to remind you that every update posts you entered in the
Update Posts page will be regarded as entries for my giveaway.
This
giveaway is eligible for everyone who joins Gone With The Wind Read Along. The
winner would be picked from Update Posts entries that you have entered
during the read along. I have picked five authors from early 20th
century (just as Margaret Mitchell), whose books are offered for the prize:
Agatha Christie
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Ernest Hemingway
Virginia Woolf
Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings
- One winner can choose 1 (one) title from one of those authors from Amazon (for US residents) or from The Book Depository (for non US residents) at max. $10.
- Leave a comment mentioning how to contact you if you win (email/blog/twitter), and the book you’d like to have (you can change it later if you win; I’m just curious).
- I will pick and announce the winner on November 8th 2012, so make sure you have added your update posts in the linky before that. Note: review post did not counted, as Bzee will host another giveaway for review posts at the end of this read along.
- The winner will have 48 hours to respond or I will pick a new winner.

May I choose? No? Okay, just saying that I'd like to read some Virginia Woolf's, haven't had experience with her books :D

I haven't read Mrs. Woolf either, but have planned to read Mrs. Dalloway early next year.
DeleteEven without this (wonderful!) giveaway, I'm having a great time reading, thinking and writing about Gone with the Wind. I really don't think I'd have such a good time reading it by myself!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose, I think I'd go for The Yearling by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, because she is a new to me author (yes, yes, bad classics reader me!) and the book sounds really interesting.
Good choice, The Yearling is one of my favorite young adult classics! And you're right about reading it together, I don't think I'd be able to endure Scarlett by myself...
DeleteI think I have all those authors on my list except Rawlings. TOo bad for me that I haven't been posting updates! I am about 55% through GWTW. I am enjoying it very much, it is the longest book I have ever tackled I do believe.

I'm not familiar with the works of the other 4 authors, haven't read or finished a single work of them BUT if I can choose, I'd want Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.
ReplyDeleteI read the Indonesian translation when I was so so much younger. I was visiting my cousin and there were few pages left to read when my parents dragged me home! xD
Then I think you should try those other authors. Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby is one of my favorites. But Christie is always memorable, anyway, isn't she? Good luck, then...
DeleteI only know Dame Agatha, Marjorie, and Fitzgerald, the other two mmm...only know by name, can you give good recommendation ? Not to heavy please .... or I'll never finished reading it :D

DeleteEeep I am really not sure what title I would want! I think I'd want something from Agatha Christie, F. Scott Fitzgerald, or Ernest Hemingway though. I've already read The Great Gatsby and The Old Man and the Sea, which I liked. But Agatha Christie has such good books! I'm just not sure.
