The
end-of-year-excitement for book blogger started when bloggers begin to post
their reading challenges or reading groups of the next year. Funny it is that
you were super-excited when planning the reading, but felt under-pressured
while executing the plan. Well, at least, for me.
For 2017,
actually I have planned to “read with the flow”, opening unlimited reading choices
according to my mood. But…. this one is too tempting to be ignored:
The Classic

I will only
join in about 4 or 5 months of it:
February
I have read
Oedipus the King about 5 years ago; and loved it. Maybe now is the perfect time
to revisit it in English version (I read Indonesian translation back then).
March
This is one of my most favorite books. Would love to
rereading it once again (my last reading was in 2014).
I might or might not pick this. I’m just
curious. And I have been itching to read plays and poems again, so…. just maybe…
September
This would be my first Cather. But the theme is interesting,
and it’s always exciting to read from an author for the first time.
November
Other than
that, I have been longing to reread The Great Gatsby and The Iliad! And maybe one or two Shakespeare.
What about
you, what classics are you excited to read or reread next year?
I love House of Mirth. I've read it twice and it was just as wonderful the second time around. This is so tempting because I also have so many books I would love to reread but I'm just overwhelmed by the books I haven't read yet! I'm also hoping to read Dostoevsky next year and so I hope you do too.

DeleteI will definitely read Brothers Karamazov next year. Hope we can read along! My first Dostoyevsky is Notes from Underground (unsuccessful cause I don't understand most of it), then I read Crime & Punishment. Not my favorite, but it is a good reading. So, I have much hope on Brothers Karamazov.
I also love The House of Mirth! I'm probably joining Adam for that one and Little Women (January). :)

DeleteHope we all can make it, because I have just remembered that I still have some books to read before March for Classic Club. Oh dear!
Adam's challenge sounds exciting, but I'm not committing to any fiction (save two) next year. I find I'm more interested in reading travelogues, memoirs and Asian history. In fact, I've got myself a few books already in preparation for a nice long non-fiction feast!

DeleteAbout Asian history, have you read or planned to read Max Havelaar? My copy is on the way, and I might want to read it next year.
No, Fanda, I haven't. In fact, this is the first I am hearing of Max Havelaar. Not sure I'd want to pick up the novel, but I'd be interested in the historical setting of the novel. It sounds quite similar to our history.

For Lord of the Ring, I am still not inclined to read it. Maybe in the future, but not now.
I am planning on joining in on this one too. I was thinking doing the entire thing, but we will see. I have so many books on my TBR list, and I like mixing things up as much as possible. I have taken a real like for nonfiction lately.
