long while, but now I’m more than ready to shake up the beginning-of-year-reading.

- The list consists of books that are on my TBR pile, either in physical or e-books.
- I have shuffled the chunky and lighter ones, so.. let's hope for the best!
- Some of them I have intended to read this year, either for reading challenges I’m participating, or for my own reading events/schedule.
- Some of them have appeared in my previous CC Spin (and didn’t get picked), and few were even entered for last challenges but then I changed my mind (sorry, Middlemarch!)
- A Room with a View, I have started reading few chapters a couple of months ago, but I guess my mind was too pre-occupied at that time. Anyway, I’m willing to make another trial.
So, whichever gets to be picked, bring it on! I’m crossing my fingers for Rural Hours, though, so hopefully no. 1 will be lucky 😄!
I have No Name by Wilkie Collins on my list too. I read it decades ago and know I enjoyed it but have zero recollection of what its about
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that! I've read The Woman in White & Moonstone, and I quite liked them, though not my favorite. Hopefully No Name is as good as those two.
DeleteYou have several of my favorite books on your list! Where the Red Fern Grows is amazing, though sad. Dandelion Wine is just fun. I loved the adventure and humor in The Scarlet Pimpernel. And Middlemarch and A Room With a View are two of my favorite classic novels. :D Hope you spin a good one.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping myself I'll get Dandelion Wine or Scarlett Pimpernel, they seem to be fun. Middlemarch and A Room with a View are the two I'm dreading most. The first for the bulkiness, the latter because I've read several chapters and found it boring. Hopefully it's just me being moody...

DeleteGreat list, Fanda. I have only read "Middlemarch" and my son's absolute favourite in elementary school was "Where the Red Fern Grows" but a few of them are on my wishlist.

DeleteI can imagine. It is chunky but I love those books, they have the most to offer. So, if you get "Middlemarch", I get "Invincible Louisa".
DeleteNow I think I won't mind the chunkies, because I can start it earlier, considering I have only 100ish pages left of my last book this year. So, I'm excited to see the result!
DeleteI think the main reason I don't mind chunksters is because I read more than one book at a time. So what, it I need a whole month to get through one of the big ones, I probably read four or five shorter ones in the meantime.
DeleteI think Middlemarch is pretty great, but it is chunky! I liked No Name, but it's not short either... The Scarlet Pimpernel is definitely a fun read.

I loved The Vicomte de Bragelonne, No Name and The Woodlanders. The Scarlet Pimpernel is very entertaining too. Middlemarch is a great book, but I can understand why you want to avoid it! Good luck.

DeleteThere are some on your list that I am not familiar with, but I got Their Eyes Were Watching God for one of my spins and liked it a lot. Lark read The Scarlett Pimpernel recently, and now I want to read that. I think Casino Royale is the best James Bond book by Ian Fleming. Each one in the Bond series is a bit different, but that one feels most like spy fiction.
ReplyDeleteCasino Royale has been on my TBR pile forever. I guess the reason I haven't read it yet is perhaps I'm worried that it won't be as good as the movie. But I'm glad you think it the best Bond book, I shall try it soon!
